SCRC delegates participated in the Training Meeting on Standardization of Construction of Human Genetic Resources, Hunan, China
Between 14 and 17 April, 2017, sponsored by Hunan Provincial Human Genetic Resources Management Office and undertaken by the School of Basic Medicine at Central South University, the first “Training Meeting on Standardization of Construction of Human Genetic Resources, Hunan, China” grandly opened at the academic hall in the new-campus library of Hsiang-Ya Medical College. The symposium invited reputed experts both abroad and at home in the field of construction of human genetic resources, scholars in the relevant area, high-level management, and backbones of technology research and development. They gave lectures pertinent to standardization of constructing human genetic resources, the latest development in basic research and applied technology research, special (professional) biobank construction, ethics and regulations construction, focuses and hot issues of the field concerned.
Director of SCRC, Gan Rongxing made a speech on the regulations and practice of human genetic resources. After the introduction of the background, significance, status quo and tendency of management of human genetic resources in China, he elaborated on the policies relative to the approval of acquiring, collecting, buying and selling, exporting and departing human genetic resources. While illustrating the principle of peer review over the international cooperative projects concerning human genetic resources and highlighted matters in need of close attention. In addition, Dr. Ruan Liangliang, Director of Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Biobank, also made a wonderful report on quality management and quality control of biobank.
 
 
Informative, plentiful, and instructive, the training deepened knowledge of the delegates about the importance and urgency of human genetic resources management, thus significant to our national development of human genetic resources management.
