On October 11^th -14^th, 2015, “DIA 1st National Conference on Drug Research Innovation” was successfully held in Shanghai International Convention Center. Focused on discussions about 6 major subjects, this conference invited over 100 well-known experts from abroad and at home to conduct about 30 symposiums on many issues ranging from targets of drug design to the first attempt at clinical trials human bodies.

        The conference particularly invited Sun Yanrong, Chief of the Division of Comprehension and Supervision under the Social Development Commission of the Ministry of Science and Technology, to make a special report on the current status and developing trends of human genetic resources management. Prof. Gan Rongxing, SCRC Director, as a distinguished guest, gave a lecture at the conference, titling “Strategies for human genetic resources management and biobank construction in China”. Director Gan probed into the practicing of regulations on human genetic resources and the relevant platforms in China, calling for greater efforts made to our national biobanking.

        On the afternoon of October 14^th, the panel session of strategies for China’s biobanking development and human genetic resources management invited many domestically reputed experts to make keynote speeches on the issue as the name of this panel discussion suggested. Specifically, Hu Yihong, Chief of the Division of Bio-Resources and Bio-Security of the Center for China’s Bio-Technology Development at the Ministry of Science and Technology, introduced the affairs of administrative licensing on human genetic resources; Zheng Yongpei, Dean of the Department of Medical Affairs from Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center, elaborated on the platform for sharing Shanghai biobank; and Prof. Wang Peng from Capital Medical University and chief personnel of Beijing Biobank of Clinical Resources, provided an overview of the clinical data and Beijing Biobank of clinical resources.
