Sino-Swiss Symposium on Quality Management System of Clinical Research was Held Successfully in Longhua Hospital

        May 27th, 2014, Sino-Swiss symposium on quality management system of clinical research was held in Longhua Hospital on, organized by Shanghai Clinical Research Center (SCRC) and Longhua Hospital, and supported by team from Clinical Trials Center (CTC) of the University and University Hospital Zurich. The Symposium helped to linked scientists, doctors and professionals with different backgrounds from Shanghai and Switzerland, who might bring new insights to the theme on quality management of clinical research by sharing their knowledge.
 
        President Xiao Zhen from Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of TCM and Vice President Dr. Jack Xu made opening address. The symposium included two sessions "Quality Management System of Clinical Study" and "Management of Children in Clinical Research". In the first session, Professor Cao Cai, Former Deputy Director of Food and Drug Inspection Center, China Food and Drug Administration, Secretary-General of China GCP Alliance, presented on the main problem existing in current clinical trials, and shared her thoughts in how to resolve the problem and improve the quality management of the trials and. Vice-president Wang Yongjun, Dr. Li Chenguang, and Wang Juyong introduced the great efforts Longhua Hospital has made in the quality management of TCM clinical trials. Osaro Aideyan, Data Manager from University Zurich, discussed the importance and Impact of Randomization in clinical research.
 
        In the second session, the symposium especially explored how to manage the quality of clinical trials involving children. Vice President Xi Yiqun of Shanghai Children's Hospital, , shard her experience in ethical review of Children's study and emphasize the protection of the vulnerable group in clinical trials . Manuela Felder, Clinical Research Associate from University Zurich introduced Research at Swiss Children's Hospital and PIP (Pediatric Investigational Plan) which provided very useful reference for children's study in China. Professor Tian Ying, Associate Director of "Environment and children's health" in the Ministry of Education of Shanghai Jiaotong University Affiliated Xinhua Hospital and Shanghai Key Laboratory, Professor and director of Environmental Health Department, Public Health College, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Wan Ming, Project Manager from Shanghai Clinical Research Center elaborated on how Environment and Children's Health and Shanghai Birth Cohort study.
 
        The high-class experts shared scientific, practical and world-class clinical research experience, all of which would enhance the management level and clinical research In China.
 
        CTC, affiliated to the University of Zurich, which devotes to conduct clinical trials and translational medicine research, applies for the Program of Sino Swiss Science and Technology Cooperation jointly with SCRC and gained approval in 2012. Collaboration between the SCRC and the CTC could not only be fruitful for both organizations but also actively contribute to creative activities by sharing and complementing local experience.
