On April 22^nd to 25^th, Biobank Quality Control Workshop was held successfully in Shanghai by Shanghai Clinical Research Center (SCRC) and Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Biobank (SERCB). Over 70 participants from hospitals, institutes and pharmaceutical companies across the countries attended the workshop and visited Biobank Reference Lab.

 

The workshop is mainly focused on how to establish and implement the quality management system. The experts and practitioners in biobank management from SCRC introduced the elements and requirements in quality management system, the QC methods, set up and maintenance of SOP and related files, and shared their experiences and best practice in biobank quality management system construction and the application of ISO/IEC 17025 certification.  Experts from Thermo Fisher, QIAGEN, Cryo Bio System and TECAN, which are well-known equipments manufactures in biobanking service, also introduced the methods of equipment selection, consumable purchasing, quality control of bio-samples, Nucleic acid detection, liquid nitrogen storage and automated processing of bio-sample. 

 

As part of a series of biobank management workshops and training courses organized by SCRC and SERCB in 2013, the workshop has provided reference for quality management in biobank construction, which is conducive to better promote standardized construction of biobank, and has been highly regarded by the participants.
