Nov. 9th, 2012------ The unveiling ceremony & cooperation signing ceremony of Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Biobank (SERCB) was successfully held in Shanghai Clinical Research Center (SCRC). Mr. Haixiong Si, Assistant Director of R&D Site   Management Office, Science & Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, Mr. Kan Li, Director of Science & Technology Commission of Xuhui District, and Dr. Rongxing Gan, Director of SCRC and SERCB, together with more than 40 leaders and professionals from domestic and overseas biobanks witnessed the establishment of SERCB.

 

Leading experts from world renowned biobank projects and hospitals, participated the ceremony, such as Dr. Kurt Zatloukal, coordinator of ESFRI, Biomedical and Biobanking Resources Research Infrastructure (BBMRI), Dr. Chingli Hu from Ruijin Hospital, President Guangjun Yu from Children's Hospital of Shanghai, as well as  directors of biobanks from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, BGI, Beijing Cancer Hospital, Shanghai 6th People's Hospital, Xin Hua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University and Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University. The experts and guests visited Information Platform, Biobank Reference Lab, as well as Quality Control and Analysis Platform of SERCB. They all highly commented on SERCB's construction and extended their sincere congratulations.

 

In order to provide one-stop solution for biobank units in terms of equipment selection, software support, standardized operation, personnel training and even consumable purchasing in China, SERCB has established strategic partnerships with different equipment and solution providers. Dr Rongxing Gan has signed cooperation agreements with representatives from six companies, namely, Mr. Clint Haris, Vice President from Brooks, Dr. Zhanjie Liu, CEO of Haier Medical and Laboratory Products Co., Ltd, Ms. Minghua Lu, Marketing Director of Thermo Fisher China, Ms. Wei Dong, General Manager of QIAGEN, Mr. Lichen Zhou, Marketing Director of IMV Technologies, as well as Mr. Yong Dong, President of Shanghai Sheng Yang Biobank Co., Ltd.

 

                   

        "Through the win-win cooperation, we can work together to further promote the development of biobank in China and provide high-quality bioresources as well as strong technical support for biomedical research translational research in China," said Dr. Gan.

 

                    

       

SERCB was approved to establish by Science & Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality in 2010 and completed on Aug, 29^th, 2012. SERCB aims to provide infrastructure and solutions for developing standardized biobanks in China. SERCB is the only organization authorized by Shanghai Municipal Government for biobanking service.
