SCRC delegates attended GBW 2017

        Between 12 and 16 September, 2017, SCRC Director Gan Rongxing and Ruan Liangliang, Director of Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Biobank, under the invitation of BBMRI-ERIC (The Biobanking and Bimolecular Resources Research Infrastructure-European Research Infrastructure Consortium), attended Global Biobank Week 2017 (GBW 2017） held in Swede, and gave a key-note speech. At the conference, the delegates discussed about issues that were commonly concerned and interested, and basically realized the intended goal.
        The conference, initiated by BBMRI-ERIC, welcomed about one thousand delegates outstanding in biobanking. They shared their practical experience in biobanking in the past, and discussed together about the future developmental direction for biobanking. Moreover, at the meeting, delegated exchanged ideas about quality control before and after making sample analysis, ethics, data and sample share mechanism, and sustainable development, and paid close attention to future development of biobanking, quality control of genomics, and the success stories in their biobanking practice.
        During the conference, Director Gan Rongxing and Director Ruan Liangliang proactively communicated with local delegates on the issue of biobank. On the one hand, they learned a lot about the advanced technological experience; and on the other, they introduced biobanking in Shanghai to the international community. It drove forward international communication and cooperation, and further enhanced mutual understanding, leading to the consensus on some cooperative fields. Due to the active exchanges, SCRC delegates got a deeper understanding of the potential to cooperate with European countries in construction of biobank and development of translational medicine, thus obtaining the aim to communicate, enlarge influence, deepen friendship and achieve win-win collaborations. Meanwhile, by comparison, SCRC got clearer awareness of the gap between the self and the other, and deeper sense of responsibility and urgency, which would necessarily impel its development.
        In a word, SCRC paid constant attention to the cooperation with international biobanking institutions and would deepen the cooperation with BBMRI-ERIC in the future, and further enhance SCRC’s international influence in biobanking, thus largely promoting development of biobanking in China.
